Dark Magician has finally received the support cards that were released in the TCG in Battle of Chaos over a year ago and sadly its a little too late, as they came out at the same time as the Spright archetype and Tearlaments are getting closer, DM will have little room to enjoy even rogue play; additionally, because Predaplant Verte Anaconda is still legal, Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon remains banned drastically reducing the power level that the deck has compared to the TCG. All of this being said, Dark Magician is still a fun deck and does benefit from the new cards, first of all Illusion of Chaos (IOC) offers the deck a huge boost in consistency, being able to access both Magician's Rod and Magicians' Souls more often, IOC can also search Timaeus the United Dragon, another new card, which can be used to fusion summon Dark Magician the Dragon Knight or even Mysterion the Dragon Crown (A spicy extra deck option I like to play), no longer do you need to rely on hard drawing The Eye of Timaeus or running Keeper of Dragon Magic (Which conflicts with Rod for the normal summon) for fusion plays; as far as power goes, Master of Chaos is a new boss monster that on paper looks strong but I at least find myself rarely using it. Concerning my list in particular, I like to play 3 Secrets of Dark Magic instead of just 1 because I hate being out of searches/draws and still not having access to it, I love it both turn one to fusion summon Dragon Knight or Mysterion or even ritual summon IOC for the monster negate and then turn 2 to get more damage in, worst case scenario they can be used as cost for IOC, Souls or Timaeus; I also play some copies of Piercing the Darkness which is very strong alongside a Dragon Knight and Eternal Soul, these two protect each other from effects and Piercing the Darkness protects Dragon Knight in battle.
