Power: High Rogue (8.0/10) - This is still one of the strongest identity-safe Dagruel builds because Subterror Guru gives the deck a real control engine: hidden threats, flip interaction, heavy trap backing, and a slow-board style that fits Dagruel's buried giant identity. The score comes down from the older version because Imperial Order is forbidden, There Can Be Only One and Solemn Judgment are limited, and the deck now has to win with legal interaction rather than stacked floodgates.
Consistency: Very strong. Subterror Guru, The Hidden City, Terraforming, Metaverse, Pot of Duality, and Pot of Extravagance give the deck many ways to find the Guru loop. Fiendess, Final Battle, and the extra copy of Duality keep the opening turns smoother, while Stalagmo and Umastryx stay as searchable Subterror payoffs rather than random bricks.
Ceiling: Strong for a control deck. The best boards are Guru plus Final Battle, Fiendess in hand, layered hand traps, Solemn Strike, Infinite Impermanence, Solemn Judgment, or the single legal There Can Be Only One. The side deck adds Dark Ruler No More, Evenly Matched, Nibiru, Super Polymerization, Cosmic Cyclone, Feather Duster, and Pankratops for stronger second-game plans.
Recovery: Strong. Guru can keep searching, Final Battle keeps flipping and protecting Subterror effects, Hidden City turns flip summons into interaction, and Fiendess can both negate and revive Subterror monsters. Pot of Extravagance and Pot of Duality help reload after trades, though banish-heavy disruption can still hurt.
Going first/second: Best going first. The ideal start is Hidden City or Guru backed by Final Battle, Fiendess, and traps. Going second, the deck sides into board breakers rather than trying to force the same slow trap plan through an established field.
Choke points: Stop The Hidden City or Guru before Final Battle is online, remove Guru while it is face-down, force Fiendess before committing key effects, or clear Final Battle before the Guru loop starts compounding advantage. Ash Blossom on Hidden City, Cosmic Cyclone on Final Battle, and banish effects on Fiendess all matter.
Key cards: Subterror Guru, The Hidden City, Subterror Fiendess, Subterror Final Battle, Pot of Extravagance, Pot of Duality, Metaverse, There Can Be Only One, Solemn Strike, Infinite Impermanence, Droll & Lock Bird, Subterror Behemoth Umastryx, Subterror Behemoth Stalagmo.
Key combos: Hidden City searches Guru, then Guru flips itself face-down and searches Fiendess or Final Battle. Final Battle flips Guru up on the opponent's turn so Guru can search or set an opposing monster. Guru plus Final Battle can repeatedly control monster positioning while Fiendess protects the setup. Metaverse gives another route to Hidden City. Extravagance and Duality dig for whichever piece is missing before the trap engine takes over.
