Cyber Dragon has long been a pet deck of mine since forever - I mean, who doesn't like giant serpentine killer robot dragons?! That's such a cool concept for a Yugioh deck! Ever since I've watched GX in my childhood, the machine archetypes of that Yugioh generation have captured my heart - including the Cyber Dragons. However, this archetype has (so far) never reached competitive viability and has always been a mediocre rogue deck.
This changes with the introduction of Masterduel's relatively new secret pack Inherited Unity! This set includes two new cards that are integral and powerful to the Cyber Dragon arsenal - Clockwork Night and Duality!
Playing directly with Cyber Dragon's gimmick of contact fusing with opponent's machine monsters, Clockwork Night's fieldwide machine transformation effect suddenly turns Chimeratech Fortress Dragon into a "kaiju" for your opponent's entire board! Clockwork Night's attack boost helps immensely as well, simultaneously boosting all your machine monster's ATK while lowering your opponent's.
Duality allows much easier access to Chimeratech Rampage Dragon, furthering your plays with it's double foolish burial and up to whopping 6300ATK points of damage! It can also turn your Fortress and Megafleet Dragon into Cyber Twin Dragon and Cyber End Dragon!
While Cyber Dragon is functionally the same, these two cards further enhance the strategy's ability to break through boards and do what Cyber Dragons do best, OTK with ridiculously high levels of ATK!

ARCHETYPES, ENGINES AND DECKBUILDING
This Cyber Dragon deck is played "pure" without any supporting engines. 3 Herz, 3 Core and 3 original Cyber Dragon as well as Cyber Emergency are played, giving the duelist consistent access to a Cyber Dragon name. Along with Clockwork Night, Any one of these monsters contact fuse the opponent's entire board. Triple Herz and Core are played as well, so that they can benefit from Machine Duplication. 1 Cyber Revsystem is included as an additional search target for Core and for extra extension.
1 Regulus is played as an Earth Machine search target for Clockwork Night. Regulus also combos very well with Herz, since it can trigger it's "sent from field to GY" effect.
1 Jizukiru, the Star Destroying Kaiju is played as a board breaking search target for Cyber Repair Plant. It's high 3300ATK shouldn't matter, since it can be contact fused away into Fortress Dragon because it's a machine.
9 handtraps are played as well as the "Maxx C" package of Crossout and Called By the Grave to slow down your opponent and to help enable OTKs happen more easily.
The Extra Deck is designed to compliment Duality's ability to turn monster on the field into their Light/Dark counterpart. Cyber Dragon -> Rampage Dragon, Fortress Dragon -> Cyber Twin Dragon, Megafleet Dragon -> Cyber End Dragon. Duality can also dodge any sort of targeting interruption your opponent has!
The deck is 40 cards so that it is as consistent as possible to help facilitate what it's designed to do - OTK going second.
COMBOS AND GAMEPLAN
Blind Second Cyber Dragon has one strategy - go second, obliterate an opponent's board and OTK! Here are some classic Cyber Dragon combos:
Cyber Dragon Core + Galaxy Soldier = 9500ATK, Omni-negate, destroy up to two spells/traps.
- Normal summon Cyber Dragon Core. Activate Core's effect to search for Cyber Emergency.
- Activate Cyber Emergency to search for Cyber Dragon Herz.
- Link away Core for Almiraj. Link away Almiraj for Secure Gardna. (Alternatively, if you have Clockwork Night, contact fuse your opponent's board away)!
- Activate Galaxy Soldier's effect to summon itself, sending Herz.
- CL1 Herz to search for Cyber Dragon, CL2 Galaxy Soldier to search for another Galaxy Soldier.
- Activate Galaxy Soldier's effect to summon itself, sending Cyber Dragon.
- XYZ summon Cyber Dragon Nova using Galaxy Soldier + Galaxy Soldier.
- Activate Nova's effect to summon Cyber Dragon from GY.
- Overlay Cyber Dragon Infinity on top of Nova. If opponent still has a monster on-field, activate Infinity's effect to attach their monster as material.
- Link summon Predaplant Anaconda using Cyber Dragon + Secure Gardna.
- Activate Anaconda's effect, copying Overload Fusion's effect. Fusion summon Chimeratech Rampage Dragon, banishing from GY Cyber Dragon and Herz as material.
- On summon, Rampage Dragon destroy up to two spells/traps on your opponent's field.
- Activate Rampage Dragon's effect to send to GY two light machines to GY so it can attack 3 times.
- Enter battle phase, and you have a total of 9500ATK on board to OTK with (Rampage - 6300ATK, Infinity - 2700ATK, Anaconda - 500ATK).
This same combo can be done if you have Cyber Dragon Core + Herz. Instead of searching Cyber Emergency with Core, search Cyber Repair Plant. Link away Core so that it goes into the GY, and Cyber Repair Plant searches for Galaxy Soldier!
Cyber Dragon Core/Herz + Machine Duplication = 9500ATK, Omni-negate, destroy up to two spells/traps.
- Normal summon Cyber Dragon Core/Herz. if you summoned Core, search for your "Cyber" spell of choice. (Emergency for another search, Repair Plant to search for Kaiju, Revsystem for extension).
- Activate Machine Duplication targeting Core/Herz, summoning 2 Cyber Dragon from deck.
- Link away Core for Almiraj. Link away Almiraj for Secure Gardna. (Alternatively, if you have Clockwork Night, contact fuse your opponent's board away)!
- XYZ summon Cyber Dragon Nova using Cyber Dragon + Cyber Dragon.
- Repeat steps 9 -> 14 detailed above.
This is another variant of the combo with the same end result, but with Machine Duplication.
GENERAL TIPS
- Clear the board first, then go for full Cyber Dragon combo to OTK! It's very difficult to OTK if you're interrupted at any point.
- If your opponent targets your Cyber Dragons for any effect, you can dodge them using Duality while summoning a powerful monster from Extra Deck!
- Clockwork Night is excellent bait for your opponent to negate. If they don't remove it from the field and you have a Cyber Dragon on board, their whole field will be contact fused away!
- Many handtraps are included in this deck to simplify your opponent's boardstate making them easier to OTK. Be sure to time your handtraps properly to weaken your opponent!
- If your opponent Maxx C's you while you're trying to combo, just keep going and go all-in on OTK! All the cards won't matter if their lifepoints are 0.

CONCLUDING COMMENTARY
Cyber Dragon, one of the coolest machine decks ever has got a great boost with Duality and Clockwork Night! Contact fusing your opponent's entire board feels incredibly good and satisfying while generating advantage and firepower with Duality streamlines Cyber Dragon into another level!
While Cyber Dragon isn't competitively viable (it's only rogue for now), if piloted correctly it can win consistently vs. top decks on Masterduel Ladder.
