Power: High Rogue (8.0/10) - This remains a strong identity-safe Charybdis build after the current TCG legality pass, but the reason is now trap-control pressure rather than the old illegal Bahamut Shark, Toadally Awesome, and Abyss Dweller package. Pacifis, Sea Stealth Attack, Heat Wave, Skill Drain, Solemn Judgment, Torrential Tribute, and the Phantasm Spiral traps give it enough disruption to stay High Rogue at non-meta and Link Evolution-era tables.
Consistency: Very high. The deck has three Pacifis, Terraforming, Metaverse, Pot of Duality, Pot of Extravagance, Unexpected Dai, and enough Level 4 WATER Normal Monsters to turn Pacifis on. Card of Demise is kept at its current legal limit, while Extravagance replaces the lost draw power without asking the deck to depend on its Extra Deck.
Ceiling: High for a control deck, but no longer fake-combo high. The strongest openings are Pacifis plus a Normal Monster line backed by Phantasm Spiral Battle, Phantasm Spiral Power, Sea Stealth Attack, Torrential Tribute, Skill Drain, Solemn Judgment, or Heat Wave. The Extra Deck now provides legal utility through Dugares, Exciton, Bagooska, Tornado Dragon, Mistar Boy, Coral Anemone, Knightmares, Borreload, and Borrelsword instead of forbidden Bahamut/Dweller lines.
Recovery: Good. Pacifis keeps generating searches and Tokens, Pot of Duality and Extravagance find the next layer, Sea Stealth Attack protects WATER bodies, and Phantasm Spiral Battle or Power can be used from hand or GY while an Umi field spell and a Normal Monster are online. The deck is still weaker if Pacifis is removed repeatedly.
Going first/second: Best going first, where Heat Wave, Skill Drain, Judgment, Torrential, Phantasm Spiral traps, and Sea Stealth Attack can force the opponent into awkward, low-resource turns. Going second, the side deck brings Dark Ruler No More, Nibiru, Cosmic Cyclone, Evenly Matched, Harpie's Feather Duster, Droll, and Pankratops.
Choke points: Remove Pacifis before it searches or makes Tokens, clear Sea Stealth Attack before battle control matters, chain removal to Skill Drain or Judgment before they lock tempo, and force out Phantasm Spiral Battle or Power before committing the real threat. Backrow removal is much stronger here than monster-only interaction.
Key cards: Pacifis, the Phantasm City, Phantasm Spiral Dragon, Megalosmasher X, Gagagigo, Unexpected Dai, Phantasm Spiral Battle, Phantasm Spiral Power, Phantasm Spiral Grip, Sea Stealth Attack, Torrential Tribute, Heat Wave, Pot of Duality, Pot of Extravagance, Skill Drain, Solemn Judgment.
Key combos: Pacifis plus any Normal Monster searches a Phantasm Spiral card. Unexpected Dai summons Megalosmasher X or Gagagigo from Deck to turn on Pacifis immediately. Pacifis plus Battle or Power gives removal or negation while a Normal Monster is present. Sea Stealth Attack protects WATER monsters and turns battle into removal. Heat Wave backed by traps can blank monster-heavy turns. Extravagance digs for floodgates and Phantasm Spiral interaction while the Extra Deck remains a utility package rather than the main win condition.
