Generaider has been one of the coolest archetypes from the deck build packs. As a RPG connoisseur, the idea of piloting a deck as the dungeon master pitting your opponent through a "boss rush" scenario is so cool!
With the release of Photon Hypernova, Generaider receives two strong incredible cards which greatly solve their past issues - bricking and breaking boards!
Vala, Seidhr of the Generaider Bosses unbricks your hand by summoning herself from hand or GY by sending a Generaider cards to the GY. When she is summoned, she also summons another Generaider from hand or GY - providing two level 9 bodies for a rank 9 play!
Talking about rank 9s Laevatein, Generaider Boss of Shadows is XYZ "superpoly" with essentially a 3500ATK/DEF statline. Attach any cards that your opponent has in the field or GY, even backrow!
Even more consistent and strong with the new support pure Generaider is now able to stuff 15+ staples in their decklist, allowing it to compete with the meta. Be your opponent's final BOSS as you pilot Generaider!
ARCHETYPES AND DECKBUILDING
The major difference with this decklist with previous Generaider lists is that there are no supplementary engines to support the strategy - Generaider is now able to stand on it's own archetypal legs post-PHHY.
No other engines mean that Generaider has more room for staple cards to specifically counter the meta - Ash Blossom, Nibiru, Book of Eclipse and Skill Drain.
Since Generaider is incentivized to include more level 9s with the addition of Vala, ten level 9 Generaider bosses are used to enable the deck go into rank 9 XYZ plays. Laevatein is your main go-to rank 9, however, some situations may call for Infinitrack Earth Slicer or Enterblathnir. Some hands allow for four level 9 Generaider to be deployed on the board, so you can hand-rip two cards from your opponent's hand (Double Enterblathnir) then make Utopic Draco Future! Combos will be explained below.
3 Hop Ear Squadron is particularly effective in this deck. During your opponent's turn, you can synchro two tokens away with Hop Ear Squadron to hand rip your opponent for one card and make Baronne De Fleur!
3 Skill Drain is used since Generaider functions perfectly fine under it, since they all tribute themselves for cost, effectively dodging Skill Drain's field-wide negate. If you ever want to turn off this floodgate, Laevatein can attach the card under Jormungundr as XYZ material!
There are 15 ways to search Generaider Boss Stage in this deck + the three Boss Stages themselves - giving you a total of 18 ways to get your all-inportant field spell on board.
COMBOS AND GAMEPLAN
Generaiders function as a control strategy, negating and interrupting your opponent until your giant beatsticks can attack for game. Pure Generaider combos are simple since the strategy is so straightforward. Do not underestimate it's simplicity, since it is very potent!
Here are the combos for Generaider:
Vala, Seidhr of the Generaider Bosses + Mardel, Generaider Boss of Light = Boss Stage and Laevatein
- Activate Vala's effect to summon herself by sending Mardel to the GY.
- On summon, activate Vala's on-field effect to summon a Mardel from your GY/hand.
- Mardel searches Boss Stage. If you have another Generaider on hand, search Boss Quest instead, then search Boss Stage + Another Generaider S/T.
- Activate Boss Stage.
- XYZ summon Laevatein using Vala + Mardel.
Vala, Seidhr of the Generaider Bosses + Any level 9 Generaider + World Legacy Monstrosity = Boss Stage, 2 card hand-rip and Utopic Draco Future
- Activate Vala's effect to summon herself by sending level 9 Generaider to the GY.
- On summon, activate Vala's on-field effect to summon a level 9 Generaider from your GY/hand.
- Activate Monstrosity targeting Vala on the field. Summon from deck Mardel and another level 9 Generaider.
- Mardel searches Boss Stage. If you have another Generaider on hand, search Boss Quest instead, then search Boss Stage + Another Generaider S/T.
- Activate Boss Stage.
- XYZ summon Enterblathnir. Activate it's effect to banish a random card from your opponent's hand.
- Repeat step 6. Banish a second card from your opponent's hand.
- XYZ summon Utopic Future by overlaying your two Enterblathnirs.
- XYZ summon Utopic Draco Future using your Utopic Future.
Hop Ear Squadron + 2 Generaider Tokens = 1 card hand-rip and Baronne De Fleur
- During your opponent's draw phase, summon Harr, Generaider Boss of Storms from deck.
- During your opponent's main phase, negate your opponent's card effect with Harr, using two tokens so Hop Ear can use their effect.
- Synchro summon using Hop Ear Squadron from hand + Generaider token for Desert Locusts.
- On summon, discard a card from your opponent's hand with Desert Locusts.
- Synchro summon using Desert Locusts + Generaider Token for Baronne De Fleur.
Going first, it is imperative that the Duelist always establish Generaider Boss Stage. Everything else is just extra. Almost every hand would end on Laevatein's "XYZ Superpoly" and Boss Stage's summon from deck of another Generaider Boss. However, the most incredible hands can end on Enterblathnir's double hand-rip, Utopic Draco Future's monster negate/steal, Desert Locust's hand-rip and Baronne De Fleur. Also, this deck boasts 15 staple slots, so you hand can have an Ash Blossom, Nibiru, etc. for further interruption.
Going second, this deck's ample space enables it to side in a multitude of going second cards. After an enemy's board has been sufficiently weakened, you can summon beefy beatsticks to beat down your opponent's monsters in the battle phase, then in main phase 2 you can use Laevatein to XYZ superpoly away their surviving monsters, backrow, and GY.
GENERAL TIPS
- Although somewhat limiting, this deck can still play relatively comfortably under Dimension Shifter, Dimensional Fissure and Macro Cosmos. If the duel calls for it, you can side this into your deck to metagame your opponents.
- A huge weakness this deck has is Cosmic Cyclone/Runick Destruction/Twin Twister on your Boss Stage. That usually ends most of your interaction and interruption vs. your opponent.
- Summon Loptr with Generaider Boss Stage first to give all your Generaider monsters and tokens an attack boost. Opponents tend to attack the low ATK tokens since they're a weak point in your defense. Tribute them before they get a chance to!
- If one of your Generaider monsters get negated or rendered useless, you can tribute it with Loptr to summon another Generaider Boss from deck, giving you another form of interaction.
- This Generaider deck has a lot of staples. These are the best cards to side-out in games 2 and 3 - Nibiru, Ash Blossom, Hop Ear Squadron, Book of Eclipse, Generaider Boss Room and Skill Drain.
CONCLUDING REMARKS
The gameplay of pure Generaider is tempo based, where you go for 1 for 1 trades vs. your opponent until you come out on top because of Generaider Boss Stages sheer grind power and free resource generation every turn It's not too complicated with it's combos which is perfect for duelists who just want to play Yugioh without worrying about messing up their complex combo/gameplay (like me lmao). A rare props to Konami for their design choices for the support for this archetype. Granting an underpowered deck with one of the strongest forms of removal, Laevatein's "XYZ superpoly" fixes Generaider's problems breaking boards going second. Generaider's crippling limitations with level 9 bricks in hand is largely solved by Vala while simultaneously enabling rank 9 plays is genius!
All in all, this older deck is granted new life for today's meta with two very strong support cards. Now, give your opponent the Boss Rush of their dueling career as you negate, hand-rip and XYZ super poly to victory with Generaiders!!!
GLHF Duelists!
