Salamangreats are very much a “Jack of all trades, master of none” style of deck. While the deck often plays and handles in the style that a combo deck would, the actual gameplay of Salamangreats often times better resembles that of a control deck. It is a very linear deck that is somewhat lacking in pivot options in favor of having some incredible crackback capabilities and an outstanding grindgame. So while you’re not setting up fields that are packed to the brim with negates, board wipes, or big numbers, you will be able to rebuild your fields and keep playing the game with relative ease, while also impairing your opponent’s moves using the large plethora of handtraps the the deck is capable of running, as well as the two Salamangreat traps, Rage and Roar. Will of the Salamangreat and Balelynx will both give the deck some pretty good resilience, and Jack Jaguar + Sunlight Wolf will allow you to recycle an absolutely massive amount of resources that will help you dominate the grindgame. To top it all off, once you’ve whittled down your opponent enough, you can make Accesscode Talker using Update Jammer extremely easily, which will let you clear up your opponent’s field a bit more and attack twice, in order to deal a staggering total of 10,600 damage, which is more than enough to close games.
