Introduction
Premium Pack 2022 is a very... weak set. With subpar support for the unasked for archetype Puppet, along with random Reptile and Zombie support that does nothing to fortify the current playstyle or introduce another, many will consider the cards in here to be completely pointless. However, one singular card stands out from this heaping pile of rubbish. This magical spell, Numbers Evaille, will save the set.
What exactly is this card, how strong is it, and is math really fun? Let's get right into it!
Numbers Evaille
Numbers Evaille
Normal Spell
- If only your opponent controls a monster Special Summoned from the Extra Deck:
Choose 4 "Number" Xyz Monsters with different Ranks in your Extra Deck and Special Summon 1 "Number" Xyz Monster from your Extra Deck with a number in its name equal to the total of the numbers in the names of all 4 chosen monsters, and if you do, attach all the chosen monsters to it as material,
but you cannot Special Summon monsters, except "Number" Xyz Monsters, while you control that face-up Special Summoned monster. (This is treated as an Xyz Summon.)
If I had to summarize this card, it allows you to summon almost any Number monster while attaching 4 materials underneath for no resource costs. The complicated part is understanding how this card works.
First, you select any 4 Number monsters from your extra deck. Remember their numbers! I will take an example of Number C5 Chaos Chimera Dragon, Number 14: Greedy Sarameya, Number 29: Mannequin Cat and Number 44: Sky Pegasus. You do not need to summon them, just select them!
Next, you add up all the numbers. In this example, it refers to adding 5 +14 + 29 + 44 to form a grand total of 92.
Now, take this corresponding number of 92, and summon the Number monster associated to it. In this case, the great Number 92: Heart-eartH Dragon! Then put all your previously selected monsters underneath your new Number Xyz monster. Isn't it a very simple effect?
The variety of choices also includes Chaos Number monsters (like Number C1: Numeron Chaos Gate Sunya) to manipulate for the different rank requirements. Through this card, a duelist will be able to summon almost any Number monster they wish for! So as long as they can prepare the correct materials beforehand.
The list of impressive Numbers monsters is a lot. There's 107 of them and more! But fret not, I am here to filter out some of the best ones you can pick from. On that note, here is a full visual list of the current available Number monsters to pick from.
Counting on the right numbers
As previously mentioned, it is possible to summon almost all the Numbers listed above. However, Numbers Evallie comes with a strict restriction: no more Special Summons outside of Numbers Xyz Monsters. Naturally, the Number monster you choose to summon should be worth all the effort you are expending into this. What's worth their weight in numerals?
Number 86: Heroic Champion - Rhongomyniad
Number 86: Heroic Champion - Rhongomyniad
Warrior/XYZ/Effect
Rank 4 ATK/ 1500 DEF/ 1500
2 or more (max. 5) Level 4 Warrior monsters
- Once per turn, during your opponent's End Phase: Detach 1 material from this card.
- This card gains effects based on the number of materials attached to it:
● 1+: Cannot be destroyed by battle.
● 2+: Gains 1500 ATK/DEF.
● 3+: Unaffected by other cards' effects.
● 4+: Your opponent cannot Normal or Special Summon monsters.
● 5: Once per turn: You can destroy all cards your opponent controls.
Before anyone starts to @ me, please remember that Rhongomyniad is currently unlimited in the OCG. This is currently the greatest Numbers card available for legal play. Rhongomyniad obtains multiple effects per materials, but the most important effect is the fourth. After Rhongomyniad lands on the field, your opponent effectively can not summon anything against it. Not even a Kaiju could swallow it up! Thankfully, this overwhelming presence only lasts one turn, as it needs to detach one material at the end of the turn. But there is no denying that this sort of effect will leave the opponent helpless against your assaults. It is this very combination of locking out your opponent from summoning monsters and being completely unaffected by anything that has caused the TCG to completely ban it from their card pool.
Being able to summon this monster for the mere cost of activating one spell is no doubt a super unfair move. This is also one of the reasons why Numbers Evaille is a very hyped card as of late.
How to summon?
Number 6: Chronomaly Atlandis + Number 7: Lucky Straight +
Number 8: Heraldic King Genom-Heritage + Number 65: Djinn Buster
6 + 7 + 8 + 65 = 86
Number 92: Heart-eartH Dragon
Number 92: Heart-eartH Dragon
Dragon/XYZ/Effect
Rank 9 ATK/ 0 DEF/ 0
3 Level 9 monsters
- This card cannot be destroyed by battle, also your opponent takes any battle damage you would have taken from battles involving this card.
- During your opponent's End Phase: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; banish all cards your opponent currently controls that were Normal or Special Summoned, or were Set, this turn.
- If this card is destroyed while it has Xyz Material: You can Special Summon this card from the Graveyard. When you do: It gains 1000 ATK for every card currently banished.
Heart-eartH Dragon is a personal favorite of mine, and possesses a ridiculous board wipe at the end of every turn. Even removing it is a threat: It comes back with a vengeance and a major ATK boost. As Number Evallie's restriction only applies when the summoned monster is on the field, you could theoretically destroy this after its summon, let it resurrect itself, then continue doing your normal plays. Or you could let it sit menacingly on your board, wiping your opponent's cards turn after turn. I would not sleep on this card!
How to summon?
Number C5 Chaos Chimera Dragon + Number 14: Greedy Sarameya +
Number 29: Mannequin Cat + Number 44: Sky Pegasus
5 + 14 + 29 + 44 = 92
Number 93: Utopia Kaiser and Number 99: Utopia Dragonar
Number 93: Utopia Kaiser
Warrior/XYZ/Effect
Rank 12 ATK/ 2500 DEF/ 2000
2+ "Number" Xyz Monsters, with the same Rank, that have material
- Once per turn: You can Special Summon Rank 9 or lower "Number" monsters with 3000 or less ATK that have different Ranks from each other from your Extra Deck, up to the number of materials with different names attached to this card, but their effects are negated, then detach 1 material from this card. For the rest of this turn, unless this effect was negated, you cannot Special Summon, and any battle damage your opponent takes becomes halved.
- While you control another "Number" Xyz Monster, this card cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects.
Number 99: Utopia Dragonar
Warrior/XYZ/Effect
Rank 12 ATK/ 3000 DEF/ 3000
3+ Level 12 monsters
- (Quick Effect): You can detach 2 materials from this card; Special Summon from your Extra Deck, 1 "Number" monster that has a number between "1" and "100" in its name. (This is treated as an Xyz Summon.) The turn you activate this effect, other monsters you control cannot attack directly, also you cannot Special Summon from the Extra Deck, except Xyz Monsters.
- When an opponent's monster declares an attack: You can change the ATK of the opponent's monster to 0.
- You can only use each effect of "Number 99: Utopia Dragonar" once per turn.
I put Utopia Kaiser and Dragonar together because they have almost similar effects: summoning more Numbers! Being able to place even more giant bodies onto the field is always a super satisfying feeling, and this can be done repeatedly since your Xyz monster here has 4 whole materials! Just remember, some Numbers are helpless without their Xyz Materials, so you could consider Rank-Up-Magic Utopiforce or Overlay Network to re-supply them.
Utopia Kaiser previously had seen use with Phantom Knight's Rank-Up-Magic Launch to churn out Kali Yuga. And Dragonar could choose to summon Heart-eartH on the opponent's end phase to wipe their boards. The possibilities are endless, and it merely starts from Numbers.
How to summon?
Number 6: Chronomaly Atlandis + Number 7: Lucky Straight +
Number 9: Dyson Sphere + Number 71: Rebarian Shark
6 + 7 + 9 + 71 = 93
Worth noting is when you detach Number 71, you can trigger its effects!
Number 6: Chronomaly Atlandis + Number 7: Lucky Straight +
Number 15: Gimmick Puppet Giant Grinder + Number 71: Rebarian Shark
6 + 7 + 15 + 71 = 99
Number 67: Pair-a-dice Smasher
Number 67: Pair-a-dice Smasher
Fairy/XYZ/Effect
Rank 5 ATK/ 2100 DEF/ 2100
2+ Level 5 monsters
- Once per turn, during your Main Phase 1: You can detach 2 materials from this card; each player rolls a six-sided die twice. The player with the higher total cannot activate monster effects or declare an attack, until the end of the next turn.
- Once per turn, if either player rolls a six-sided die (or dice) while this card has material, you can treat one of the results as 7.
Pair-a-dice Smasher is a very unique blanket negation that is originally quite difficult to summon in the first place. The first effect will potentially lock either player out of a turn, and the second will guarantee it to your opponent. All in total, to secure this effect, you would need at least 3 materials under Pair-a-dice Smasher. Numbers Evallie grants it 4 materials, which is two instances of the first effect; one guaranteed, and one up to the heaven's whims. Manipulating dice rolls is also a very niche but beneficial effect, just in case your opponent ends up playing something like Blind Destruction.
How to summon?
Number 2: Numeron Gate Dve + Number 6: Chronomaly Atlandis +
Number 7: Lucky Straight + Number 52: Diamond Crab King
2+ 6 + 7 + 52 = 67
Number 35: Ravenous Tarantula
Number 35: Ravenous Tarantula
Insect/XYZ/Effect
Rank 10 ATK/ 0 DEF/ 0
2 Level 10 monsters
- All monsters you control gain ATK and DEF equal to the difference between your LP and your opponent's.
- While this card has Xyz Material, each time your opponent Special Summons a monster(s), inflict 600 damage to your opponent.
- Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; destroy all face-up monsters your opponent controls with ATK less than or equal to this card's.
Ravenous Tarantula has quite a decent effect, but with all the already mentioned alternatives above, what sets this Number apart from the rest? It is not its effect that is stellar, but its rank! Ravenous Tarantula is the most suitable target to rank-up into Pain Gainer, followed by The Seven Sins, then into the almighty AA-Zeus! Note that the restrictions wear off the moment Ravenous Tarantula becomes Pain Gainer, so this is a very feasible strategy. Your AA-Zeus will have 7 materials, ready to blow up the field similar to a certain zodiac archetype.
How to summon?
Number 6: Chronomaly Atlandis + Number 7: Lucky Straight +
Number 8: Heraldic King Genom-Heritage + Number 14: Greedy Sarameya
6 + 7 + 8 + 14 = 35
My Thoughts and Counting
The whole Numbers crew are all very strong individually, so what if you could summon any one of them for no cost? That is Numbers Evallie right here.
This singular card has the power to present any Number for any specific task at hand, making it a very powerful and adaptable tool. However, this card is hard to activate given the requirement of needing an opposing Extra deck monster, so this does not feel too overwhelming. Regardless, this card has wormed its way into the metagame, with Floowandereeze at the top since the spell does not conflict with their playstyle. Otherwise, you can even try playing this in a pure Numbers-dedicated deck. Summoning Rhongomyniad will usually conclude the game in your favor.
It was quite fun scouring for useful Numbers, and finding the right formula so they would be playable! So while I conclude here, be sure to look forward to this card's import in the TCG - the heart of the cards can be anything you desire!
