Branded Magicians
Deck Primer
Hi, Grayewick the Fusionist here, back after two or more days without internet so I was stuck trying to build this list that is actually pretty confusing to make (either that or the other half of this deck just gave me a choice paralysis due to how many one of cards it runs originally), which is Branded Dark Magicians... Branded Magicians sounds cooler.
"Why play this deck?"
Are you a Yugiboomer? Do you love Fusion Summoning, like me? Or do you just... want to have a valid excuse to use Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon over DPE? Well this deck (I think) is for you, kind of. Also a bit of a disclaimer, as per usual, my lists are tinkered based off of my preferences, so if you feel like changing something about the deck, feel free to do so, so long as it doesn't mean using the Brave Tokens in a deck that needs its Normal Summon, especially this one. Anyway, the list.
The Main Deck:
Monsters
• My standard Branded engine ratio, with a few changes - x2 Aluber the Jester of Despia, x1 Fallen of Albaz, Incredible Ecclesia, & Dramaturge for the monsters. x3 Branded Fusion & Branded Opening with/without x1 Branded In Red for the Spells, depending on whether you want to use Guardian Chimera or not. x1 Branded Exile with/without x2 Branded Retribution for the Traps. Only one Fallen of Albaz this time mainly only to make room. I really tried my hardest to make this as compact as possible without cutting Branded Fusion to 1.
• The Dark Magician cards
The Extra Deck:
• Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon - The big boss monster towers negate, but this time it can actually pop monsters and burn.
• Dark Magician the Dragon Knight - Your second boss monster, mainly because it protects your back row from targeting and destruction. I like to play 2 for insurance but you can probably get away with just playing 1.
• Master of Chaos - This one's purely experimental, I never actually see this come up to be honest, but because I'm playing Illusion of Chaos, might as well use it.
• The Dark Magicians - A neat one of monster that draws you a card whenever a Spell/Trap is activated, be it by you or your opponent. It also floats into both Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl so, that's cool I guess.
• Dark Magician Girl the Dragon Knight - Quick-Play pop on a face-up card at a cost of a discard might sound hefty at times, but better have it than not.
Final Thoughts:
It's a fun deck to play. I mean, that's what both Dark Magician and Blue-Eyes are, really, they don't strike me as the most competitive decks there are but, you know... it still has the Dark Magician bricking issue though despite already cutting it down to just 2 copies. It also has the same problems with the other deck that I've been testing and working on lately - Branded Tearalaments - that sometimes the deck feels too slow and sometimes it just ramps up out of nowhere swiftly, though I think that only says much about the pilot and not necessarily about the deck itself, which makes sense since I love fast-paced decks, and speed is one of the most important criteria for me when it comes to testing decks, I'm still not sure. Regardless, the deck worked better than expected, definitely. It's still basically just two control decks that share incidental synergies being both Fusion strategies merged into one. Also, it's great that most if not all of the Dark Magician Fusion monsters are all Level 8, which is just the perfect Level for the Branded so, yeah. That's pretty much it. Also if you wanna do the Guardian Chimera thing, feel free to do so in this list only because the Extra Deck is actually pretty loose and you can afford to cut down some cards. As per usual, if you have any questions or thoughts, feel free to express them down in the comments and I'll respond to them as soon as I possibly can.

• The Dark Magician cards
- The Dark Magicians, not the Fusion but the Yugi's ace monster (kind of) - We only play 2 because it's a brick and it's a target for both Magicians' Souls and Branded Fusion. The other one is a The LIGHT - Hex-Sealed Fusion, hence the "kind of".
- Apprentice Illusion Magician - Dark Magician searcher. Only a 2 of because that's really the standard ratio for it and I don't want to play just one copy of any searcher, like playing only one copy of Despian Tragedy in Branded Despia, for example. I'm just saying that it doesn't make sense.
- Magician's Rod - Normal Summon Rod, add Illusion Magic, Dark Magical Circle, or Eternal Soul, or anything else you wanna do instead.
- Magicians' Souls - Probably the most broken (and expensive) card in this deck, aside from Branded Fusion. It can either set up your GY or Special Summon a Dark Magician from your GY (and technically from your Deck), and it draws you cards.
- Illusion of Chaos - Reveal this card, add Magicians' Souls or Magician's Rod. Also a Fusion Material for Master of Chaos.
- Eye of Timaeus - A searchable Dark Magician Fusion monster because that's what it practically is, usually Dark Magician/Dark Magician Girl the Dragon Knight or The Dark Magicians.
- Dark Magic Attack - A searchable back row removal. This could also be Dark Burning Magic if you just want to wipe your opponent's entire board instead.
- Bond Between Teacher and Student - A free Dark Magician Girl and Dark Magic Attack/Dark Burning Magic.
- Secrets of Dark Magic - The original Magikey Maftea, it's both a Fusion Spell and a Ritual Spell, except it's also a Quick-Play Spell.
- Illusion Magic - Another searchable one of searcher.
- Dark Magical Circle - Your most important card. It's a search (sort of) upon activation, and it's an interruption in the form of a targeting (boo) banishing effect (yay) triggered when a "Dark Magician" (that counts your Fusion Monsters that are treated as such as well) is Summoned to your field. Searchers should always be played at maximum quantities, especially this one, though you could get away with playing 2 since it itself is also searchable, I guess.
- Magician Navigation - This one feels weird, because in Pure Dark Magicians, you gotta play at least 2-3 copies of this but in this version, it feels weak and strangely enough it feels stronger with its interruption effect when in the GY. I'll leave this one up to you but just one of this, I feel I can get by.
- Eternal Soul - Your second most important card. The reason why your Dark Magical Circle can spam banish effects. Also, protect this card at all costs, because it's gonna blow up your entire board when your opponent gets rid of it.
- Magicians' Combination - It's a negate, except it's actually pretty fun to use, since it lets you tag in and out of your Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl. Also, it negates the effect, not the activation so... keep that in mind because it's relevant.
The Extra Deck:
• Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon - The big boss monster towers negate, but this time it can actually pop monsters and burn.
